Lin Er met Fu Yu when she had just started volunteering for the "Face" section in the semi-beneficial queer organization 'I AM'.
As a newly developed area, its main purpose was for people to socialise and share their life and emotional stories.
Yu's first post in the section was titled: "Memories: My Years with Nobelium".
The post was published under the ID: Miss Nobelium.
The day after posting the first thread, Lin used the administrator ID to message Yu privately. The message simply read: "Hope you all will be well. Love Wins."
At that chaotic time, Yu felt that the administrator was quite personable. Not only did Yu respond to the message, but during the serialization of the story, Lin would occasionally pop into Yu's private messaging box to chat with him.
The first time Yu met Wang Nuo (the true name of Nobelium) was in the library at University C. More than a dozen copies of Selected Kafka Short Stories were borrowed from the library at the University A. Upon inquiring, he found out that the University C’s library also had the book and borrowed it using a campus card.
When Yu found the book, Nuo was there with a copy of Selected Kafka Short Stories in hand, leaning against the bookshelf with his head down.
"Excuse me, may I take the book?" Yu lowered his voice and pointed to the Selected Kafka Short Stories that Nuo was holding.
Nuo was lost in thought, completely unaware of anyone approaching.
Startled by the touch, he accidentally dropped some papers from the book to the ground. "Sorry." Nuo moved aside, placed the book on the shelf beam, picked up the fallen papers, and took out a pen from his bag.
When Yu took the book, he saw Nuo sitting there, earnestly writing something with his head bowed. A quick glance revealed a complex calculus problem.
Shortly after, Nuo stopped writing and looked satisfied with the answer on the paper.
In a scene straight out of a romantic drama, Yu was dazzled by the smile in front of him. "Excuse me, can you help me with something?" Yu asked, "Do you need to borrow that book?"
"No, thank you." Nuo thought Yu had not left because he wanted to borrow the book he was holding, so he quickly handed it over.
"It's not that," Yu continued, "If you don't need to borrow that book, could you help me borrow it? I need to borrow two copies." He gestured to the one in his hand.
It was the last copy of Selected Kafka Short Stories on the shelf.
"Two copies?"
"For someone else."
At the University C’s library, one student card could only borrow one copy of the same book.
"I'll help you borrow it."
Using his law student's rhetoric, by the time they left the library, Yu not only knew Nuo's name but also that he was a sophomore in the math department at University C, who had a habit of solving problems in literary books.
Then, they became WeChat friends.
The copy of Selected Kafka Short Stories that Nuo helped Yu borrow was continuously renewed until the end of the semester.
As a token of gratitude, Yu shamelessly invited Nuo to get some food and drink, and hang out from time to time.
By the end of their second year, people who didn't know the reason thought that these two had known each other for a long time. After all, who would have thought that Yu, a man who could make money by putting on a black windbreaker, had such a good relationship with the "little prince" recognized by the neighbouring math department!
After all, based on appearances alone, most people wouldn't associate Yu with a law student.
